THERAPY
Leura Speech Pathology delivers high quality therapy that is fun, engaging and relevant to each individual. Skills are best acquired when therapy is motivating, enjoyable and centred around the client’s interests. Families and caregivers are encouraged to be included in the therapy process to ensure generalisation of skills learned in therapy.
As a mobile service, therapy can be provided in the client’s home or preschool and school environments (subject to site visit access and client preference) on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
Length of sessions offered depends on individual client needs with 30, 45 and 60 minute sessions available. Session times include therapy, discussing client progress, in addition to planning and administration.
ASSESSMENT
Initial Assessment
At the first session, a 45-60 minute initial assessment will be conducted to establish areas of need and inform treatment planning and goal-setting. An initial assessment also includes correspondence with medical practitioners, other allied health professionals, caregivers and school staff to obtain relevant information to guide assessment and intervention.
Formal Assessment
Formal Assessments for language, speech, literacy and/or pragmatics are required for diagnostic/funding purposes and usually take between 1.5-2 hours to administer. All formal assessments include a comprehensive report, which is suitable for funding applications.
FUNDING OPTIONS
